2005 Press Release
MTRCB OFFICIAL STATEMENT
03 August 2005
The Movie and Television review and Classification Board has
been receiving numerous complaints over controversial statements
made by actress Rosanna Roces during a live interview with
the talk show “The Buzz”.
In response to said complaints, the MTRCB has called for
a dialogue with ABS-CBN officials. ABS-CBN, in the spirit
of self regulation within the context of the constitutional
freedom of artistic expression and speech, committed itself
to undertake the following measures:
1. The submission of all future interviews with Rosanna Roces,
or any actor or actress for that matter, on controversial
issues, especially on family or private concerns, for review
and classification.
2. The show “The Buzz” itself shall remain live
and shall be classified as “Parental Guidance”
with an advisory prior to the broadcast on the sensitivity
of the show’s thematic, verbal and visual content which
may not be suitable for young audiences.
3. Talk shows that feature the family and private concerns
of an actor or actress outside their participation in a featured
movie or television show may be deemed sensitive material
and may generate public controversy offensive to some television
audiences. These materials such as interviews, should be pre-taped
and first submitted to MTRCB for review and classification
and should not be aired live.
4. ABS-CBN shall continue imposing self-regulatory measures
and practice self-censorship among its talents and programs
and shall continue to adhere to KBP industry standards of
fair play and public decency in all its broadcasts.
